A sinogram is a radiologic study of the sinus tract. This exam demonstrates the extent of a sinus tract and the potential for involvement with other structures. It is usually done in areas where a patient already has a drain or other device.
No preparation is needed.
The exam is conducted by an interventional radiologist, a specially trained interventional radiology technologist, and a nurse.
A small flexible catheter will be inserted into the tract opening. Contrast is then injected to show the tract. If a drainage catheter is already in place, it will be injected. Images will be obtained at different intervals and positions.
The procedure will take approximately 30-60 minutes.
You may resume your normal activities immediately after the exam.
