Dr. Azam Shafquat

Dr. Azam Shafquat is a US board certified cardiologist and cardiac electrophysiologist. In addition to general cardiology patients he sees patients with heart rhythm problems and heart failure. He implants pacemakers and defibrillators (ICDs) for rhythm management and Cardiac Resynchronization Devices(CRT) for patients with low ejection fraction (EF) or poor heart function. He also performs EP studys and ablations.

Before joining South City hospital he was Professor and head of Cardiac Electrophysiology at National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases. Prior to that he was a Consultant Cardiologist at King Faisal Specialist Hospital Riyadh for several years. He is a graduate of the Aga Khan University and was on their faculty on his return from North America.

Dr. Azam Shafquat is a graduate of Aga Khan Medical College. He did his cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology training from North America and passed his boards in internal medicine, cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology from United States. Before joining South City hospital he was Professor and head of Cardiac Electrophysiology at National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases. Prior to that he was working as Consultant at King Faisal Specialist Hospital Riyadh for several years and earlier was faculty at Aga Khan University.

Dr. Shafquat specializes in heart rhythm problems and implants pacemakers, defibrillators (ICDs), Cardiac Resynchronization Devices(CRT) as well as EP study and ablations. He has a special expertise in heart failure management and also sees general cardiology patients.
