Training and Experience

Dr. Peshimam is a graduate of Dow Medical College. He did his Internal Medicine Residency at Cook County Hospital, Chicago and his Rheumatology Fellowship at Rush University, Chicago, USA .Former Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of North Dakota, and former Chief of Rheumatology at the Fargo VA Health Care Systems, North Dakota, USA.

Dr. Peshimam is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology through the American Board of Internal Medicine. His certifications are current.

Dr. Peshimam’s clinical experience spans over 25 years. His practice of rheumatology is evidence based and patient centered. He takes time to explain the relevant diseases and treatment options to his patients and explains potential side effects of medications. For soft tissue problems as in tendonitis , he emphasizes physiotherapy, for chronic pain he encourages improving personal fitness along with neuropathic pain medications. He focuses on the need to wean off individuals on long term corticosteroids for inflammatory conditions. If the situation demands aggressive immunosuppression, as in early aggressive/erosive rheumatoid arthritis, he treats them accordingly with small molecules/biologics. His years of experience in rheumatology enables him to address, intricate medical problems in patients with multiple co-morbidities.
