Prof. Dr. Nasir Khan Jakhrani is the chief of Anaesthesia at South City Hospital and the head of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU). He has been associated with SCH since its inception and became full-time faculty after he retired from Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
Dr. Jakhrani graduated from Liaquat Medical College, Jamshoro in 1971. His anesthetic training took place entirely in the UK where he obtained his FRCA from London in 1981. He joined the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, a tertiary care hospital in Karachi, as an assistant professor of Anesthesia in 1985. He became head of the Anesthesia department and the Surgical Intensive Care Unit in 1988. He was made a professor in 1996 and retired in 2010.
Dr. Jakhrani is on the specialists’ list of the General Medical Council of the UK. He has vast experience in every type of anesthesia and intensive care. He is a member of the following organizations: the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine; the Intensive Care Society of the UK; the Critical Care Society, in the US, and; the International Association for the Study of Pain. He has been an examiner for the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan fellowship and has multiple publications to his credit. He is the author of an anesthesia book.
