Prof. Syed Kamran Ahmed

Prof. Syed Kamran Ahmed is an accomplished Professor and Head of Orthopaedic Surgey at The Indus Hospital, Karachi. He is a supervisor and examiner of specialist training (FCPS Orthopaedic Surgery) at College of Physicians and Surgeons (CPSP), Pakistan. He sub specializes in Hand, Shoulder, Elbow surgery & Plastic microsurgical reconstruction of extremities.

He has fellowship in Hand and microsurgery from Queen Mary Hospital and Duchess of Kent Hospital, University of Hong Kong. He has also gained honorary fellowship in Orthopedic and Hand surgery from the International College of Surgeons, USA. At the University of Istanbul’s Ćapa Hospital, he obtained a fellowship in the Ilizarov & Extremity Reconstruction techniques. In addition, he has fellowships in Shoulder and Elbow surgery from the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität, Freiburg, Germany and Lindenhofspital, Bern, Switzerland.

Furthermore, Prof. Kamran also rectifies the entire spectrum of congenital or acquired hand and wrist disorders. He works in the area of complex trauma reconstruction surgery, soft tissue reconstruction of extremities with flaps and skin grafts, tendon and nerve repair and transfers for the upper and lower limbs including brachial plexus surgery. He also performs limb lengthening and complex deformity correction with the Ilizarov technique and motorized nails.

Prof. Kamran also specializes in joint replacement surgery and has pioneered Shoulder and Elbow arthroplasty in Pakistan. He is regarded as an expert for replacement and reconstruction of hand and wrist joints. All in all, he has over two decades of experience in knee and hip replacement surgery.

He also performs Cerebral Palsy and Poliomyelitis surgeries, Botox treatment, regenerative medicine and reconstruction of Osteoporotic injuries.

Moreover, Prof. Kamran is the Past President of Pakistan Society for Surgery of the Hand (PSSH), Chairman Hand Forum Pakistan Orthopedic Association, International Corresponding member of European Society for Surgery of the Shoulder and Elbow (SECEC/ ESSSE), International Faculty of AOTrauma/AO Foundation, Life member of Asia Pacific Orthopedic Association (APOA) and Senior member and Faculty of ASAMI Pakistan.
