Dr. Waqar Kashif
Dr. Waqar Kashif is a consultant physician at South City Hospital. He completed his training in Internal Medicine, Nephrology and Critical Care Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin, USA.
Prior to joining SCH, Dr. Waqar was a full-time faculty member in Department of Medicine, Aga Khan University for over a decade, where he also held the position of Head of section of Nephrology. Dr. Waqar has also served at the Sind Institute of Urology & Transplantation (SIUT) Pakistan as Assistant Professor and consultant Intensivist. He has maintained an out-standing academic record, and has been actively involved in teaching and research at various academic positions over the course of his career. At SCH, Dr. Waqar plays a pivotal role as an Intensivist, Nephrologist and Internist.
His areas of expertise include: – Critical care conditions such as Septic Shock, Multi-organ Failure, Acute Kidney Injury, respiratory failure requiring ventilator support, Diabetic Keto-Acidosis (a life threatening condition caused by very high blood sugar levels), Acute Poisoning, and other Acute medical emergencies such as complicated Dengue, Malaria, etc.
- Acute and Chronic Kidney Disease with or without need of Hemodialysis.
- Proteinuria and other disorders of the kidneys.
- Metabolic disorders (electrolyte imbalances such as low sodium, high potassium levels, thyroid disorders, liver failure, etc.)
- General Medicine
- Complicated pre-operative and post operative care for patients undergoing major surgeries: to manage their medical conditions likely to cause difficulty in recuperation.
