Dr. Muhammad Nasir Khoso

Dr. Muhammad Nasir Khoso is a full-time consultant in Anesthesia & Critical Care Medicine and Head of the Isolation Unit, Critical Care Unit, and Emergency Services at South City Hospital Karachi Pakistan. He is also the Director of Quality Care Assurance and Co-Director of Postgraduate Medical Examination at South City Hospital Karachi Pakistan.

He attended LUHMS Jamshoro for his MBBS. He then went on to complete a five-year residency training in Anaesthesiology followed by another two-year fellowship training in Critical Care Medicine at Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi. In addition to being an outstanding clinician, he is also a passionate teacher and an avid researcher. He is actively involved in critical care education for physicians and nurses in Pakistan. He is the course director and instructor of many international and national critical care courses for intensive care. He is also involved with several projects relating to emergency, trauma, and critical care systems development.

He is a member of the prestigious Society of Critical Care Society USA. He is also a member of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine and the Pakistan Sepsis Alliance.

At SCH, Dr. Khoso plays a pivotal role as an Intensivist, Anaesthesiologist, Perioperative Physician, and ER physician and spearheaded the critical care management of covid-19 patients during the pandemic, setting great examples by leading from the front. As Director of Quality Care Assurance, he also maintains quality and state-of-the-art clinical management for patients at SCH. Dr. Khoso’s interests also include optimizing patient surgical and medical services by analyzing patient flow through hospitals, on either a scheduled or emergency basis.

His areas of expertise include:

Critical Care conditions such as Septic Shock, Multi-organ Failure, Acute Kidney Injury, Respiratory failure requiring ventilator support, Neurological emergencies, Infectious Critical Care Cases, Metabolic emergencies, and other Acute Medical and Surgical emergencies.
