Dr. Aftab is a distinguished Fellow of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan and presently holds the esteemed Assistant Professor of Pediatrics position at the National Institute of Child Health. His journey in Pediatrics began at Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH), where he not only completed his residency but also meritoriously served as the Chief Resident of the department.
During his tenure at AKUH, Dr. Aftab's dedication extended beyond clinical care. He was actively involved in educating emerging medical professionals, and imparting knowledge and skills to residents, interns, and medical students alike. Additionally, Dr. Aftab delved deep into pediatric research at AKUH. His work on thesis projects has significantly contributed to the field, shedding light on various pediatric concerns and enhancing the body of knowledge available.
His commitment to the field led him to a pivotal role in the public sector, where he took on the responsibility of Head of the Department of Pediatrics at Services Hospital, Karachi.
In a world grappling with the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Aftab went above and beyond his regular duties. He was at the forefront of the battle against the virus, actively participating in measures to combat its spread. Notably, he served as the founder and focal person of the Khaliq Dina Mass COVID Vaccination Center, making significant strides in community health and safety.
With a decade-long experience in managing various childhood illnesses, Dr. Aftab has established himself as an authority in the field. He possesses a keen interest in pediatric allergies and asthma, growth retardation, nutrition, neonatal care, and the specialized care required for children with special needs. His passion for pediatrics, combined with his research acumen, positions him as a leader in both the clinical and academic spheres of the profession.
