Dr. Nasim Chaudhry is a highly acknowledged and respected senior Consultant Psychiatrist at Greater Manchester West Mental Health Trust, Having worked in the UK for over 20 years. She has extensive experience in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of mental disorders, psychotic illness, schizophrenia, PTSD, personality disorder, and stress-related emotional difficulties. Her clinical and research interests are in the field of mood and anxiety disorder, perinatal psychiatry, and substance misuse. She has a passion for investigating emerging treatments for this condition.
She is also an accredited consultant for Intellectual Disability (ID) Psychiatry and has an extensive experience in this specialty; this includes assessment, diagnosis & management of autistic spectrum disorders, ADHD, challenging behaviors, and mental disorders in this group. She has been a leader for Sal Ford ID services since 2003 and this service has been named as one of the 4 services in England that the Department of Health quotes as examples of excellence in service delivery.
Dr. Nasim Chaudhry holds an Honorary Senior Lecturer post at the University of Manchester, one of Europe’s largest centers for research and postgraduate education in psychiatry, psychology, basic and clinical neuroscience,e and a center for academic excellence; with 25 Noble Laureates among current and former staff and students. She has extensive experience in teaching and training. She has been an examiner for the Royal College of Psychiatrists and is the Training Program Director for (ID) higher trainees in northwest England.
She has established academic links with UK, Canada, Africa, and South Asia centers. She has a strong interest in Global Mental Health and is involved in capacity building and training mental health practitioners in low and middle–income countries. She has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals and is a co-applicant in several international prestigious grants. She has presented her work internationally at several academic conferences.
Dr. Nasim Chaudhry, s continued involvement in mental health research means that she remains at the forefront of evidence–based treatment for mental illness to provide high-quality care for her clients. She has now returned to Pakistan and will be practicing as a consultant psychiatrist at the South City Hospital Karachi.
