Infection Control

Infection Control

We take infection control extremely seriously and SCH has a very low rate. We give hand-washing prime importance. The hospital uses Manorapid, whose dispensers are located all over the hospital. In our critical care areas each bedside has its own dispenser. We follow barrier nursing protocols (contact precautions with the patient). We isolate highly infected patients with single separate staffing.

When rooms are evacuated by infected patients, they are exposed to UV light which is an antiseptic for the air.

All of our inpatients are nursed in single occupancy, en suite rooms, to reduce the risk of infection. Our infection rates are extremely low – this is something we are very proud of and make every effort to maintain.

We encourage all of our patients to attend the facility for pre-admission screening to ensure that MRSA is kept out of our hospital. If a patient is found to be a carrier of MRSA, we take all possible precautions to ensure the risks to them and other patients are minimised by implementing strict precautions. We undertake an extensive in-house audit programme to ensure that the highest standards of cleanliness and safety standards are met and maintained.
