Dr Mumtaz Lakhani

Dr. Mumtaz Lakhani is a Board certified in Pediatrics and Neonatology(Newborn Specialist).Trained in general Pediatrics as well as New born medicine from College of Medicine and Dentistry in Newark New Jersey followed by Fellowship in Neonatology from prestigious NYU /Bellevue hospital in New York. After fellowship she has worked in major New York Hospital i.e New York Hospital of Queens, Northshore university Hospital in Long island New York and its affiliate hospitals in plain view and Huntington hospitals.

In Pakistan, she was the founder faculty and Neonatologist at The Aga Khan university from 1986 to 1990. She started first neonatal intensive care hospital in Pakistan at AKU. Initiated Newborn Thyroid screening in Pakistan and published first paper with an evidence that this disease which causes mental retardation is more common in Pakistan and can be prevented by newborn screening.
She returned back to Pakistan in 1999 from sheer patriotism to give quality service to children of Pakistan. In last 15 years she has been associated with AKU and Ziauddin University hospital. She has been consultant pediatrician and neonatologist at South city hospital since 2008 to present.
Her patients include babies from day zero to 18 years of age.

She is one of the senior most pediatrician in Karachi with experience of over 4 decades. She deals with simplest children problem like cold, cough, immunization to most complicated cases in general pediatrics.

She is assisted by a senior pediatrician Dr. Gansham Das who is MCPS in Pediatrics and has experience of more than 2 decades.
